Cindy Naberhaus

Between clowning professionally for events and parties and serving as a lead motivator for her town's 4-H activities, Cindy Naberhuas creates art with dried gourds. Using a wood burning tool and various dyes, she creates a variety of designs, from her ever popular Christmastime snow people, to contemporary geometric design to tribal and Native American influenced designs.

Statement: Gourds were an important functional item for many Native American peoples, serving a storage containers, bowls and utensils for daily used, and musical instruments for ceremonial use. Naberhaus reminds of this connection between people and the natural world with her decorative version of gourds.
